"Ambition"

Salvador Dali once said "Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings."  This symbolizes that having ambition for something your passionate for but not using your intelligence takes you no where higher than where you should be standing. The quote speaks for itself it states its point without having to think to hard, its motivational and Intellectual meaning speaks for itself. This can be clearly seen in The Pregnancy Project by Gaby Rodriguez. Gaby proves that she wants to be more than just want people expect her to become, so she takes her ambition to the next level and takes on a huge project where she fakes a pregnancy, she keeps attending school even if she is "pregnant", and she manages to keep going through her "pregnancy" project even though she gets caught up in her emotions.

I Am Gaby

I am an honors student.
I wonder why everyone judges pregnancy.
I hear students saying "She’s so dumb. Doesn’t she know she just ruined her life?”
I see people walk by and whisper horrid things about their peers.
I want to change the views of people.
I am an honors student.

I pretend to be pregnant.
I feel everyone's view of me changing.
I touch my boyfriend Jorge's face and kiss him.
I worry how his life will be impacted because of this.
I cry because people are so stereotypical.
I am an honors student.

I understand that this project will change my life.
I say "Why, do they not see the real me?".
I dream to one day be able to see my family be proud.
I try to have ambition towards my future.
I hope this project isn't tragic.
I am an honors student.

The Pregnancy Project

"The Pregnancy Project" is a memoir written by Jenna Glatzer, alongside with Gaby Rodriguez. This book is based on her ambitious to be higher than the rest. She tries to show her mother how she is not the same as everyone else. I choose this book because its something that revolves around me 24/7. I think this memoir will change the aspects of how I look at life.

"A Hero"

"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds
the strength to persevere and endure in spite
of overwhelming obstacles."

                                              -Christopher Reeve

The quote of Christopher Reeve symbolizes that you don't have to be in a millionaire movie or play the hero either. Simply all you have to do is be an individual whom will stand up for someone in need. And whenever you find yourself stuck standing over an obstacle find your inner strength and be the bigger person. I agree with Christopher because everyone had their own hero, whether its a father, a mother, a brother/sister, an uncle/aunt, or a grandparent. We all have someone to whom we can look up to and sometimes just with their presence you find your inner strength. My life hasn't always been steady and living with an ease, its always been difficult. My family always revolves around problems. Sometimes it gets to the point where i say, why was it my fate to through this and after each and everyday of going through it all, it made me the person i am today. Always look forward no matter the circumstances.

A Christmas Tale

Once upon a time there was a 16 year old boy named Aleape. He lived in a suburban neighborhood with his mother, Zeriah. Christmas was just around the corner, and all Aleape wanted was to see his dad , Zedge, who worked for the FBI and was always away from home, on Christmas day. Aleape kept a calendar where he would count down the days until he would be able to see his dad. He woke up and went straight to his calendar. He then saw that it finally was Chirstmas Eve. He jumped, stomped, screamed, and then ran faster than a bullet, jumping on his mom yelling at the top of his lungs ," Daddy's on his way, Daddy's on his way!!" Zeriah then kissed her son on the cheek and give him a big bear hug.  It had seemed as if hours flew by without them even noticing. Christmas dinner was ready and Aleape was waiting for the door bell to ring. Hours had passed, and it seemed an eternity before he heard the door bell ring. He opened the door as his mother rushed behind him. He opened the door and right there before his eyes stood a police officer. The police officer asked , "Is this Sheriff Zedge's Family?". Zeriah and Aleape both looked at each other with frightened faces and a shallow butterfly feeling in their stomach. Zeriah spoke up , " Yes, he's my husband" , "Ma'am I'm sorry to inform you that your husband was killed in an active case which contained of a drug cartel, the leader of the most notorious drug cartel in the world. We will have a ceremonial burial in your husbands act of strength, honor, glory, and service for the U.S. FBI. Sorry for your loss."  Both Zeriah and Aleape began to cry and then she slowly shut the door. Aleape ran to his room, slamming the door behind him. "Aleape" Aleape replied, "I don't wanna talk to anyone, leave me alone!" Aleape all alone in his room cried himself to sleep that night, and having that overbearing thought that his dad was no longer alive killed him inside. The chirping of a mocking jay sitting on a tree branch outside of  his bedroom window, awoke him. It was snowing cats and dogs. Yet, not even the snow lifted his spirit. He got up and even though the fact that his dad wouldn't be coming home anymore, he walked over to his mom's room and laid down behind her and gave her a hug from behind. As, he laid in the bed, he saw that the same mocking jay out side his window was now outside his moms and then he had one of those moment where you have some kind of connection with such a thing, so he decided to go outside to follow the bird. He ran back upstairs to grab a jacket and put on some shoes, than he ran downstairs and opened the door.  There on the tree beside the garden was the mocking jay staring right at him and once he stepped outside, the mocking jay stood on his index finger. As he took a footstep into the snow he had a brief run through of a memory with his father and as he keep walking forwards, he was able to see all the adventures that him and his father had created together. There and then he realized that the mocking jay which he held was significant for hope, and he smiled.
